More on the Twin Clutch SST

Mitsubishi's newly developed transmission, the 6-speed Twin Clutch SST, is a technological marvel. Similar to Volkswagen’s Direct Shift Gearbox, the TC-SST puts odd and even gears on separate shafts with its own clutch to feed torque to the output shaft. For example, when you step on the accelerator pedal in first gear, the computer automatically pre-select the second gear and upon upshift, the odd gear shaft is disengaged and the even gear shaft is engaged almost simultaneously, allowing extremely fast, smooth and lag-free gear changes with no interruption in power delivery.

At the end of the day, when you look back and think about all the Evolutions that has come and gone before this one, you will soon realise that this new X is different from the pack for the very fact that everything with this car is designed to be better. And better it is (save for straight-line performance, that is).

With a host of technological improvements and physical changes over the outgoing model , Mitsubishi has effectively revolutionize the Evolution into a car that is bigger, better and more comfortable to be in while keeping true to the DNA that make up a true blue Evolution – excellent road holding abilities, brilliant driving dynamics and heart-thumping performance.

This is a revolution of an Evolution indeed.
