Opel Vectra 1.8 Review: German Saunter
In the market for an executive sedan, but want to be the maverick one? Well, go take a look at the Opel Vectra then. You'll be surprised with what it can offer.

Despite being a front wheel drive, the Vectra is a capable handler - it's both well planted and communicative. Turn-in is sharp, feedback to the wheel is sufficient, and response to sudden changes in direction is near instantaneous. When cranking the Vectra through some of our usual twisty backyards, the car is willing and responsive without any serious vices. Some will consider it softly sprung and prone to roll, but other than that, these characteristics did little to hurt the car's handling.
It may not have the muscle and friskiness of the previous 2.2-litre Vectra GTS, but this 1.8-litre Vectra can still be considered a desirable means of transportation. In this $86k trim, it effectively puts a tick in all the important boxes - performance, handling, practicality and value for money. To view it from another angle, the Vectra undercuts the rest of its teutonic competition in terms of pricing, but not in terms of packaging - a typical teutonic affair, but without the typical teutonic pricing.
Enticing proposition, isn't it? Well, we think so too...
