Mercedes-Benz Singapore launched the new CLS recently with the stunning CLS 63 AMG taking center stage. More than 600 guests packed the Mercedes-Benz Center to be the first in Singapore to view the cars on display. Guests were also treated to a lingerie fashion show by La Perla, taking the cue from the night's theme of Sense made Sensual.

In 2003, Mercedes-Benz as the trendsetter, created a completely new vehicle category which for the first time combined the elegance and dynamism of a coupé with the comfort and functionality of a saloon. The customers were delighted, the competition taken aback: for many years the CLS remained the only four-door coupé in its class and since October 2004 it has been the car of choice for some 170,000 buyers around the globe.

With its exciting, perceptible design and refined sportiness, the new edition of the CLS benefits from the fact that as the inventor of the segment, Mercedes-Benz is a whole generation ahead. All of the engines in the CLS are new and help to guarantee an improvement in fuel consumption of up to 25 percent compared with the previous models. Also making a contribution to the increase in efficiency is the electromechanical Direct-steer system fitted as standard and celebrating its world premiere in the CLS. The CLS is also the first car in the world to feature optional LED High performance headlamps. For the first time, these combine the tried and tested Intelligent Light System from Mercedes model using bi-xenon headlamps with LED technology.

The local range will kick off with the CLS350 BlueEfficiency with 306bhp from its V6 lump. Next comes the CLS500 BlueEfficiency with 408bhp from its 4.7-litre V8. Also available from launch is the 525bhp CLS63 AMG performance variant. the CLS63 is powered by AMG's new Biturbo motor and will set one back a cool $508,888 inclusive of COE.
