Market Watch: 3 Used EVs In Singapore That Aren’t The Usual Suspects
Your EV doesn’t need to win the range war! Sometimes, being fun, quirky or simply different is enough.

EVs, by and large, tend to follow similar paths of progression. Every new model launched is the same story - more range, bigger battery, faster charging, more power.
"Wah, 0 - 100 km/h in less than four seconds!" - sounds familliar? But bro, you’re still going to be stuck on the CTE during peak hour.
And the Singapore car market makes things even more interesting...

Here, buying a car isn’t just about whether you like the car. There’s COE, ARF, annual depreciation, road tax, ERP and the eternal question: “Eh, can it fit in my MSCP or not?”
Take a step back - don’t just chase the biggest battery or most power. These three EVs aren’t necessarily the obvious choices, which is exactly why they’re interesting!

2022 Honda e: Small but shiok
The Honda e is tiny, cute and rear-wheel drive. The Advance trim gets you more than 150 hp, a 35.5 kWh battery and a claimed 220 km range. On paper, the range itself sounds comical. But for Singapore, can do lah!
It’s only 3.9 metres long, has a tight turning circle and is basically made for squeezing into notoriously tight streets.

The boot is tiny, sure - don’t expect to do IKEA runs in one go. But as a second car runabout? It’s the real deal.
You’re not buying it because it’s the most functional. It’s designed to tune the fun scale to 11.

2024 Polestar 2: Less SUV, more car
The Polestar 2 is a different kind of interesting. It’s understated, handsome and doesn’t portray that “look at me, I’m an EV” vibe.
The single motor version produces more than 200 hp and has a more driver-focused, planted character than many of the electric crossovers in showrooms.

If you’re the sort who still enjoys driving but doesn't want to go back to petrol, this one makes quite a lot of sense.
And here’s the thing - when the carpark is filled with the latest mainstream EVs, turning up in a Polestar gives you that “I know something you don’t” energy!

2021 Volkswagen ID.3: Remember this?
The ID.3 was supposed to be VW’s next big thing. In Singapore, however, it remains... pretty rare.
The Pro Performance gets a 58 kWh battery, 201 hp and a claimed range of just over 400 km.

It’s compact, practical and properly usable as a family hatchback - and that’s the appeal. It doesn’t need to look like a spaceship - it’s basically a familiar VW hatch, just electric.
With newer Chinese EVs constantly arriving, the ID.3 has become the sort of used car option where your peers might ask: “Wah, it has a VW badge, but what model is this?” To have this perception on a VW sounds wild, but that’s all part of the fun.
