Due to the lack of a roof, the IS-C's structural rigidity was increased through the use of additional bracing in the rocker area, A and B pillars, side collision crossmember and upper and rear-floor crossmembers. Underfloor braces were also added in the front and rear of the car.
High rigidity damping materials and asphalt sheets were also added to minimize vibration in an attempt to ensure that the IS-C has nearly identical NVH characteristics as the IS sedan. Additional sound absorption and insulation materials have also been added to help realize this.
No changes were made under the bonnet to the 2.5 liter V6 engine. The suspension however, was tweaked to provide better stability and ride comfort required in a convertible. In particular, the rear multilink suspension was lowered and had its rigidity enhanced to help provide better control and yaw response.
The Lexus IS-C retails for $191,000, while the IS-C Luxury goes for $206,000. Both prices are inclusive of COE but not insurance.
