BMW Sauber have announced that they will retain the same driver pairing for the 2009 Formula One season.

This announcement puts to rest earlier rumours that Alonso would be joining the team in 2009. A BMW statement further declared that Kubica and Heidfeld were a "strong driver pairing".

Alonso will have two choices before him: He can stay on at Renault, or accept an offer from Honda. However, Honda are struggling and this option does seem unlikely.
