Cat C COEs set to increase from April’s Second COE Bidding Exercise
Goods vehicle quotas are set to increase in April’s second COE bidding exercise. Earlier this month, saw a total of 162 certificates dished out, with the quota premium set at $45,906.
This is according to LTA, due to a shortage of EURO IV diesel goods vehicles, back in 2007, which has now caused a significantly larger number of commercial vehicles that have been deregistered in the preceding quarter. According to The Straits Times, the 322 quota average per-month, is now set to balloon to an average of 2,168 to be issued.
Good news for those who are looking for a new van or truck? Car dealers are slashing their commercial vehicle prices, even before the second bidding exercise has begun. The Nissan NV200 panel van, which was selling at $91,900, just last week, is now going at $63,900. However the Volkswagen dealership has taken a different approach, by selling their commercial vehicles without the COE, with the final price the buyer pays, dependent on the coming COE results.
The next round of COE results will be out at 4pm on 26 April, and we can expect more affordable commercial vehicle prices. Surely a huge plus to businesses.
