The argument sounds silly, but you cannot dispute statistics!
Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa claimed that Ferraris as a group produce fewer total emissions than Toyota Priuses.
However, this argument is based on the total number of vehicles times the miles driven times the emissions per mile. Toyota has built at least two to three times as many Priuses in the past decade than the total number of Ferraris that have left Maranello in Ferrari's 61 year history. Also, a large number of Toyota hybrids are still on the roads, while many of the Ferraris are already in museums.
Ferrari drivers who put more than just a few thousand miles on their cars annually are very rare. Thus, fewer cars being driven fewer miles make for greener motoring.
Well, yes, but common sense tells us that to begin with, the high cost of a Ferrari already means that the brand's overall environmental impact will always be negligible compared to mass produced cars anyway.
