FORD Cars (Designed for Windows)

Future Fords may offer Microsoft Windows on their vehicles. I wonder if it will be crash-tested? I guess it's a step in the right direction, since most of the world is PC (not MAC) -based. I do think this is a great trend though, putting computers in cars, that is. I just hope Apple hooks up with some carmaker too. Subaru, are you listening? In any event the software is to be called "Sync," and it could be available in 2007.

The first step in this direction occurred this year with Chrysler offering the 20 MB MyGiG hard drive on some of their vehicles. My thought then (and still is) this great, as you can load a ton of CDs on this hard drive. No longer will you be limited to a 6-disk CD changer, and then store all your other CDs is the glove compartment and/or in every nook and cranny of your car's interior.

So this looks like it could be the next frontier for automakers to explore—and the next must-have option to put a tick against in the options list.
