This increase puts Kia as the fourth best-selling brands based on new car registrations from January till June 2009.

So far in 2009, Kia’s best-selling model in Singapore has been the Kia Cerato Forte. Launched in late February this year, this new 1.6L and 2.0L sedans outshone its predecessor, the Cerato Variant2 by a 412% increase in sales registrations.

This figure would have been even higher if not for the supply shortages resulting in delays in car registrations.

Chin Kee Min, Senior Manager for Kia Operations, Cycle & Carriage Kia Pte Ltd, said, "Despite the global economic slowdown, Kia has experienced tremendous success with the launch of the Kia Cerato Forte."

"We are happy that consumers are starting to see the value Kia cars offer, especially in this trying economy. And with new products lined up for the second half of the year, we are confident that this will be a good year for Kia."
