Legendary Porsche 917 KH Arrives In Singapore Ahead Of Raceborn Fest

One of Porsche’s most significant racing cars has arrived in Singapore. Flown in from the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen, the 1971 Porsche 917 KH recently embarked on a one-day photography tour around the island ahead of its public appearances at Porsche at Jewel and Raceborn Fest.

Transported on a specially decorated flatbed truck, the historic racer was photographed at several local landmarks, including Chinatown and the Central Fire Station along Hill Street, before concluding its tour at Capella Singapore on Sentosa.

A Record-Breaking Piece Of Motorsport History

The Porsche 917 played a pivotal role in securing the marque’s first overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970. This particular Gulf-liveried #21 example, however, is best remembered for winning the 1971 Spa 1,000 km.

Driven by Pedro Rodríguez and Jackie Oliver, the five-litre, flat-12-powered 917 KH reached approximately 350 km/h on the Masta Straight and completed the 1,001-kilometre race at an extraordinary average speed of 249.069 km/h, including pit stops.

Its average speed record on the original 14.1-kilometre Spa-Francorchamps circuit was never surpassed before the circuit was shortened in 1979.

Catch It At Raceborn Fest

The historic racer will be displayed at Porsche at Jewel before appearing at Raceborn Fest, held from 9 to 11 October 2026 at Guoco Midtown.

Celebrating 75 years of Porsche Motorsport, the event will also feature the Southeast Asian premiere of the new Porsche 911 Challenge, alongside an update on the upcoming Porsche Experience Centre Singapore, scheduled to open in 2027.

The 917 KH will return to Porsche at Jewel following the event, giving local enthusiasts another opportunity to see one of endurance racing’s most recognisable machines up close.
