New Mercedes-Benz GLB Hybrid Lands From S$392,888

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the new GLB high-tech hybrid in Singapore, with prices starting from S$392,888. Available initially as the GLB 180 Progressive and AMG Line, the seven-seater SUV receives a new electrified powertrain alongside updated infotainment and driver assistance systems.

Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 130 bhp and 200 Nm, supplemented by a 22 kW electric motor integrated into a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 48-volt lithium-ion battery with a capacity of up to 1.3 kWh allows limited electric-only driving in urban conditions.

The system also supports electric coasting at speeds of up to approximately 100 km/h, while regenerative braking can recover up to 25 kW of energy.

Performance figures include a 0-100 km/h time of 11.4 seconds and a top speed of 191 km/h. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.0 litres/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 138 g/km, placing the GLB 180 in Singapore's VES Band C1.

Inside, the GLB retains its seven-seat configuration and offers 540 litres of boot capacity. It also introduces Mercedes-Benz's new MB.OS operating system and latest-generation MBUX infotainment, incorporating AI technology from Microsoft and Google.

Safety equipment includes standard DISTRONIC Distance Assist, while the optional MB.DRIVE ASSIST package adds Steering Assist for SAE Level 2 driver assistance.

The GLB 180 is offered in Progressive and AMG Line specifications, with the GLB 200 scheduled to join the Singapore line-up later this year. Further pricing and availability details will be announced closer to its introduction.
