Local news: Volkswagen downsizes even further
Volkswagen to introduce 1.2 TSI variants of the Golf and Polo this month.
The new Polo Sport 1.2 TSI and Golf 1.2 TSI will be powered by Volkswagen's all-new 105bhp 1.2-litre turbocharged motor. The 1197cc offers 175Nm of torque, offering the range topping Polo Sport a 0-100km/h time of 9.7 seconds, 2.2 seconds quicker than the base 1.4 model.
The new base model Golf sits under the 1.4 TSI While the 122bhp 1.4 offers a 0-100km/h time of 9.5 seconds, the 1.2 TSI does in in a not-too-shabby 10.6 seconds. Both new models will come with Volkswagen's famed seven-speed DSG twin clutch gearbox.
The Golf 1.2 TSI will be officially launched on 12 June while the Polo Sport will be launched on 26 June.
