The Porsche 911 Challenge Is Your New Gateway To Motorsport
Porsche’s newest customer race car puts familiar 911 GT3 tech into a stripped-out, track-only package.
Porsche has unveiled the new 911 Challenge, a near-production racing car based heavily on the current 911 GT3.
Priced at €208,800 before country-specific VAT, it’s Porsche Motorsport’s new entry-level racer and can compete in various one-make series worldwide from the 2027 season.
Unlike the 911 Cup, the Challenge uses plenty of production GT3 technology, including its 4.0-litre NA flat-six and seven-speed PDK. It produces 515 PS at 8,500 rpm and revs to 9,000 rpm.
The chassis gets motorsport-specific suspension, a three-position adjustable anti-roll bar and 18-inch racing slicks. Braking hardware comes from the 911 GT4 R, with 380mm steel discs front and rear.
Inside, road-going comforts are gone. The Challenge gets a welded-in roll cage, six-point harness, racing seat, fire-extinguishing system and a 110-litre fuel tank.
There’s also an integrated three-jack air-jack system, FIA rain light and a four-position adjustable rear wing.
The result is a dedicated competition car with no road approval. Porsche says its familiar GT3-based technology and adjustable driver aids should make it easier for newcomers to get into racing.
The 911 Challenge now sits at the bottom of Porsche’s 911 racing hierarchy, below the 911 GT4 R, 911 Cup and 911 GT3 R.
