To signal the start of the campaign, Volkswagen also introduced the most fuel efficient five seater car in the world to the Singapore market. The new Polo BlueMotion is the world champion when it comes to CO2 emissions, emitting just 87 g/km of CO2. Its fuel consumption figure of 3.3 litres per 100km betters that of any other five seater car in the world. The Polo BlueMotion is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder TDI lump making 75bhp and features a five-speed manual gerabox. Like the previous Polo BlueMotion, the Polo's exterior has been aerodynamically enhanced to be more slippery through the air to further improve fuel consumption. The three-door model will be priced similarly to the Polo Sport 1.2 TSI while a five-door version is available at extra cost.

Also launched today are updated versions of the Passat CC and Tiguan. The newer models look similar as before on the outside but all variants of the Tiguan now offer the latest seven-speed DSG gearbox dubbed the DQ500. Performance and fuel economy numbers for both the 170bhp and 200bhp Sport versions have significantly improved as a result. The 0-100km/h for the 170bhp version for example have fallen to 8.1 seconds from 9.9 seconds previously.

The Passat CC Sport now offers a six-speed DSG while all versions now offer a new rear seat bench that seats three at the back instead of two. Also launched today is the latest generation Multivan. Endowed with Volkswagen's new corporate face, the Multivan will be an alternative to VIP transport people carriers like the Alphard thanks to its vast and flexible interior layout. Power source is a 2.0 BiTDI twin turbo diesel making 180bhp and 400Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. This mode of transport for VIPs obviously comes at a price - it retails for $212,300 with COE.
