McLaren adds more track cars to Sports Series
Two new track focussed McLarens will join the expanding Sports Series - the 570S GT4 and 570S Sprint.
The GT4 car will compete through the full nine race calendar undergoing live race testing while the 570 Sprint will be designed solely for private trackdays without racing regulations. Customers will however have the option of upgrading the Spring to GT4 specification.
The track-only 570S GT4 is built around the carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis architecture in common with the other Sports Series models making it the first of its kind in GT4 category. An FIA-approved rollcage and fire extinguisher system is of course not left out, with carbon fibre and aluminium bodywork over wider tracks both front and rear to accommodate centre-locking lightweight cast magnesium alloy wheels shod with slick Pirelli racing tyres. Two-way adjustable motorsport dampers with coil-over springs are fitted front and rear, and an on-board air jacking system is fitted as standard.
Aerodynamic features of the 570S GT4 include a GT4-specification rear wing mounted on aluminium pylons and a larger front splitter. An additional high temperature radiator sits below a GT3-inspired bonnet with radiator exit ducts.
McLaren's 3.8-litre twin turbo M838TE V8 engine is carried over from the road-going cars as is the seven-speed seamless shift gearbox sending power to the rear.
