Mexico: VUHL 05 Caps Stellar Debut Year With Major International Award

After a successful launch this year, the stunning new VŪHL 05 track day supercar has been honored with an international Design, Technology and Engineering award. Established in 1992, and now regarded as a benchmark throughout the Americas and beyond, Mexico’s annual Quorum Awards recognize the very best examples of cutting-edge design and innovation. The VŪHL 05 triumphed in this year’s industry category and created history by being the first winning product to be actively involved in the Award ceremony. The presentation took place recently at Mexico City’s stunning Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts), where the Award was proudly received by VŪHL Automotive’s founders, the brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, from Enrique Jacob, the president of INADEM (National Institute of Entrepreneurs).

Commenting on VŪHL’s latest accolade, the company’s Managing Director Guillermo Echeverria said: “We have long been au fait with the Quorum Awards, as my brother won one for Industrial Design back in 2007 while still a student, and it means a very great deal to have our first car recognized in this way.

Added Design Director Iker Echeverria: “It caps an amazing period in the history of our young company, that began with the public debut of the VŪHL 05 at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed - one of the world’s premier motorsport meetings - where it wowed the crowd in the hands of Mexican F1 ace Esteban Gutiérrez. The car was then exposed to an international gathering of glitterati at one of the UK’s leading lifestyle events, Salon Privé, where it once again elicited a great deal of very positive attention.

Approximately priced from $97,000, the Ford-powered VŪHL 05 is a street legal, mid-engined two-seater aimed squarely at the fun/trackday market. With a very healthy 400bhp/ton on tap it is capable of sprinting to 60mph in just 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 153mph.
