More Direct-Injection Audi models
A direct-Injection engine promises better performance, lower exhaust emissions and better fuel economy - and is the direction most carmakers are heading. Leading the way is Audi which is expanding its range of FSI direct-injection engines for the A3, A6 and new Q7 SUV.

For the entry-level A3, there is a new 1.8-litre turbocharged FSI unit slotting in between the present 1.6 FSI and 2.0 T-FSI. With an output of 160bhp, it slides in under the 200bhp 2.0-litre, and is available either with a manual or S-tronic DSG transmission.
For the A6, there is a new 2.8-litre V6 FSI with an output of 210bhp. This engine also has Audi’s valvelift system, which provides even more efficiency and economy.
The largest of the new range of direct-injection engines from Audi is the 3.6-litre V6 FSI 280bhp unit in the Q7 SUV.
With these new engines, Audi offers direct-injection engines from the A3’s 1.6-litre all the way up to the V-10 in the S8.
These models have been introduced in Europe, but when, and if, these engines will make it here has yet to be scheduled.
