The country’s first ever international-standard motor racing facility is set to host October’s 2010 FORMULA 1 KOREAN GRAND PRIX, and the weekend event represented the first glimpse of the sport for many Koreans.

A number of parades and automotive-themed events were held, with Chandhok’s run the highlight as he took the F1 car through its paces on the 5.615km track.

Korea Auto Valley Operation (KAVO), promoter of the country’s inaugural Grand Prix which has the full backing of both South Korea’s Central Government and the Government of South Jeolla Province, was pleased with the KIC’s first event. Said KAVO Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yung Cho Chung: “This has been an excellent opportunity for us to fine-tune the facilities ahead of next month’s Grand Prix, and it is exciting to see how enthusiastically the KIC has been received by Korean residents.”

The official website is at www.koreangp.kr and information and photographs about the KIC can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/KoreanGP.
