New Audi A3 Sedan Revealed - Boasting Blistered Everything

The all-new Audi A3 Sedan is finally revealed. The second generation sedan is longer by 40mm, 20mm wider, and a taller by 10mm. Its wheelbase however, remains unchanged. The new car features massive quattro blisters and a sill, which have been amplified by its concave side styling. On the inside, Audi says that an additional 20mm of headroom, has been made available, with the lowering of the driver seat, while elbow room has increased. Cargo room, remains unchanged at 425 litres.

Across the model range, new A3 Sedan will benefit from a digitalised cockpit, featuring a 10.1” central MMI touch display, which supports handwriting; and a 10.25” digital instrument cluster. Android and Apple connectivity is supported by the MMI, and also via Audi phone box, which offers inductive charging. According to Audi, the A3 Sedan can be locked and unlocked as well as started via an Android smartphone, with the Audi connect key. We are unsure if this feature will reach our shores.

The new A3 Sedan is tuned for an even sharper response. This precision is thanks to the central dynamic handling system that ensures optimal interaction between all the components relevant to the transverse dynamics. Also available are a sports setup and an option with adaptive dampers.

Singapore will likely get the 1.5 litre direct injection engine, the 35 TFSI, mated to a 7-speed S tronic transmission; with power is rated at 150ps. The new A3 Sedan will also feature cylinder-on demand technology, and a 48-volt mild hybrid system; the latter which recovers energy during deceleration, and supports the engine with up to 50Nm, when accelerating from low engine speeds or starting off. The system also allows the A3 Sedan to coast, with the engine shut off in certain situations. Fuel efficiency is rated at 20.4 - 21.3km/l.
