Wearing Azzurro California livery (which was the colour chosen for the legendary 1960s spider’s appearance at the New York Auto Show in 1962) the dual-purpose Spider / Coupé has a retractable hard top that closes in just 14 seconds. The new direct injection 4.3-liter V8 engine makes 460bhp, and accelerates the coupe + convertible to 100km/h in under 4 seconds.
And for the first time in a Ferrari, the California receives a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission for a gear shifting time of...zero.
Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo recently had some quality time behind the wheel of the California at the Fiorano circuit and stated, "The California is an extraordinary car and I was delighted with the performance, comfort and driving pleasure it delivered. The California is, like all of our models, the epitome of cutting-edge innovation. Its gearbox, suspensions and chassis are the most advanced possible.”
Unfortunately, the public will have to wait until the car is revealed in the flesh at Paris this September.
