Designed to compete directly at the current market of crossovers, it combines the functionality of a sport-utility vehicle with the performance, handling, fuel economy and price of a compact sedan.

Styling

Penned to attract non-traditionalists, the Jeep brand’s signature seven-slot grille, round headlamps and trapezoidal wheel openings are all there, albeit much more modern.

The new silhouette features a steeply raked windshield. The hood is elaborately angled and so is the deep fascia. The side profiles are uniquely sculptured, down to the fenders that form a fresh, athletic interpretation of the traditional, trapezoidal wheel flares in the classic Jeep.

18-inch aluminium alloys come as standard in a bid to emphasize the Compass’ dual-nature, off-road capabilities and on-road sophistication.

Engine and Transmission

Said to be an affordable, eco-friendly vehicle that combines advanced technologies into a one-of-a-kind Jeep adventure machine, its engine has 172 horses and a 2.4-liter World Engine that comes equipped with dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT). This helps optimize the torque curve at all speeds.

The World Engine produces more power, better fuel economy and smoother, quieter operation than engines without dual VVT, a feature that isn’t commonly available in the Compass’ price range.

The Compass comes with a five-speed automatic and a second-generation CVT that engineers have come up with for satisfying engine response, precise control over the gear ratios and an AutoStick® that allows you to shift the gears yourself.

The simulated, six stepped gears of the CVT2 boosts fuel economy by 6 to 8 percent as compared to traditional four-speeders.

Safety in the bag

There is a long list of standard safety features. Side-curtain air bags, an Electronic Stability Program, Brake Assist, Traction Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation, as well as four wheel disc brakes with ABS, are all standard affair on this Jeep.

The “Freedom Drive I” on the Jeep is an active, full-time 4x4 system. It gives the driver the ability to lock the differentials in order to handle sand and other low-traction surfaces.

The Compass is available for viewing at the Chrysler Jeep showroom - 30 Leng Kee Road.
