Nissan VQ Engine wins Ward’s 10-Best Engines yet again in 2006
Singapore, (7 march, 2006) – The Nissan 3.5-liter VQ V6 engine has been named to the annual Ward’s 10-Best Engines list for an unrivalled 12th consecutive year by global automotive magazine, Ward’s Communications, Inc. It is the only engine that has been part of the list every year the award has been presented.

The DOHC VQ V6 engine attained new levels of power and torque for 2006. Its 298 hp as tested for the award in the Infiniti G35 (manual transmission) rivals or beats many V-8s, while delivering the levels of refinement that have been a hallmark of the “VQ” modular engine series since its inception more than a decade ago.
The versatile VQ powerplant is also offered in a variety of Nissan vehicles currently sold in Singapore. These vehicles include the Nissan Cefiro, Nissan 350Z and recently launched Nissan Murano.
Mr A C Neo, Marketing Director of Tan Chong Motor Sales Pte Ltd said, “The fact that Nissan VQ V6 engine has been a 10-Best Engines winner for 12 consecutive years since the competition began in 1995 speaks volume of its superb performance. It also explains why the Nissan Cefiro is the best-selling V6 model in Singapore.”
The appeal of the Cefiro in Singapore is evident with an impressive total of 1,176 units put on the road in year 2005. This excludes the 502 units of 2.0-litre variant, which is equipped with an in-line 4 cylinder QR20DE engine.
Other engines to make this years list (in no specific order) include:
- Audis 340-hp 4.2-L 40-valve DOHC V8 with 302 lb-ft of torque as tested in the S4
