The All-New Nissan Sylphy Has Arrived

Tan Chong Motors has announced the launch of the all-new Nissan Sylphy in Singapore. Available in a 2 litre or 1.5 litre engine, the Sylphy was showcased late last year and eager consumers have been placing their orders here since February. The new Sylphy is a luxury mid-sized sedan that appears to be a cross between the Sunny and the Cefiro. Taking its name from an elemental spirit of air, the Sylph, Nissan believes the car represents a clean, natural quality that exudes confidence and reliability.

Mr A C Neo, Marketing Director of Tan Chong Motor Sales Pte Ltd said, “The availability of Sylphy makes it possible for customers to upgrade their cars as it is positioned between the Latio and the Cefiro. And with an offering of above-class spacious interior and intelligent functions, the new Sylphy will be able to fulfill an elegant car experience for this segment of customers.”

Built to attract the lady drivers to sedans instead of compacts, the Sylphy has been shaped by what Nissan calls the S-motion design theme; the elegant S of the dashboard serves to provide more space for the front passenger while bringing the consoles closer to the driver. Its sleek body shape belies its large trunk capacity of 504 litres.

A super-multi console that can be converted into a tray for rear passengers highlights the Sylphy’s hospitality functions. It also contains a 9.7-litre compartment, big enough to store a laptop. Mirroring the spacious compartment is the cabin with its generous leg room and large shell-shaped, passenger-embracing seats.

On the 2 litre model, Nissan’s intelligent air-conditioning system monitors the presence of exhaust emissions to constantly refresh the cabin with clean outside air. Further enhancements include an electronic driver’s seat with 2 memory functions as well as a locally-fitted 7-inch LCD monitor incorporating a smart screen navigation system with GPS.

The Slyphy’s chassis boasts a preloading mechanism that improves ride quality by reducing the damping force in the piston's high speed range, while maintaining the same level of force in the low speed range. The suspension system is perfectly tuned with internal rebound springs and ripple control shock absorbers, enabling the Sylphy to provide superb handling and stability combined with supple ride comfort

Available in either the 2-litre R20DE engine with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which furnishes 90% of maximum torque at 2,000 rpm or the all-aluminium 1.5-litre HR15DE with a 4-speed A/T, the new Sylphy also features Nissan’s power steering that provides a natural feel and close control for the most languid of drivers.
