Now available in Singapore: Meet the all new Audi Q3 and Audi A6 Sedan 2.0 TFSI
SINGAPORE, OCTOBER 7, 2019 – The Audi Q3 and A6 Sedan 2.0 TFSI have landed in Singapore. On top of the familiar Audi values like design, driving verve and an exceptionally welcoming interior, the distinctly different duo feature the Audi connect functionality that complements the digital lifestyle of the Audi driver. Audi connect is being rolled out across the range in Singapore. The cars are now available for test drive at the Audi Centre Singapore. The Audi Q3 1.4 TFSI retails for $168,800 and the A6 2.0 TFSI is available from $242,500, inclusive of COE and CEVS.
The new Audi Q3 continues the success of the first-generation model that debuted in Singapore in 2011. Visually more confident than ever, roomier inside and more versatile, the premium compact SUV is the latest from the Audi Q family to join the line-up in this market.
The new Audi Q3 looks even sportier than its predecessor does. Thanks to the striking Singleframe in octagon design, which is divided up by vertical bars, along with the large air inlets. They characterize the masculine front-end with its intensive play of light and shadow. The narrow headlights run inwards with their wedge shape. The side view epitomizes the balance of the exterior design with the symmetrical lighting graphics of the headlights and rear lights. The shoulder line formally connects them and, with strong muscles above the wheel wells, ensures an athletic overall impression. The contours draw their inspiration from Audi’s quattro DNA and make the SUV seem even wider; the color-contrasting wheel arch trims emphasize the offroad look. Supported by a long roof edge spoiler, which also flanks the rear window at the side, the steeply raked D pillars of the body line also create an appearance of forward thrust.
Taut lines, three-dimensionally styled elements – the interior continues the design of the exterior and echoes in many ways the brand’s full-size models. The architecture harmonizes perfectly with the new operating concept. Its central element is the MMI touch display with its high-gloss black glass-look surround. Together with the air conditioning controls underneath, it is tilted 10 degrees toward the driver. All displays, buttons and controls are located ergonomically. The comfortable seats provide a sporty position; the steering wheel is steeply angled accordingly.
Compared with its predecessor, the new Audi Q3 has grown in virtually all dimensions. It is 4,484 millimeters long, 1,849 millimeters wide (with 18-inch wheels, standard for Singapore) and 1,585 millimeters high without a roof antenna (1,616 millimeters with antenna). Its wheelbase, which has been stretched by 77 millimeters, is spacious yet, at the same time, extremely versatile: As standard, the rear seats can be moved fore/aft by 150 millimeters.
Their three-way split backrests in the ratio 40:20:40 can be tilted in seven stages. Depending on the position of the rear seats and backrests, the luggage compartment capacity is between 530 and 1,525 liters. The loading floor can be adjusted in up to three levels and the parcel shelf can be stowed underneath the floor if not needed. An electric tailgate, which can also be opened and closed with a kicking motion, is also available as an option.
The operating and display concept of the SUV has been overhauled from the ground up – Audi has done away with the analog instruments. In fact, the Audi Q3 is the first model to feature Audi virtual cockpit plus, which is a further development of the innovative digital instrumentation that made its global debut on the Audi TT in 2014. The system features three different view, including a new, particularly sporty display. The intuitive operating concept with its flat menu structure is supplemented by natural-language voice control. It also understands freely structured wording. The ingenious dialog manager asks questions if necessary, allows corrections, offers choices and defers to the speaker when interrupted.
Audi virtual cockpit plus is standard for Singapore, in complement with the top-of-the-line equipment MMI navigation plus, where the displays will also appear on the Audi virtual cockpit. There is also a 10.1-inch touch display in the middle of the dashboard.
The Audi Q3 is tightly integrated with the myAudi app. It seamlessly connects a smartphone to the car. The customer can, for instance, transfer navigation routes to the MMI.
The top-of-the-line infotainment system in the Audi Q3 offers the same technical functions as in the higher segments. Its data transfer module supports the LTE Advanced standard with integrated Wi-Fi hotspot for the passengers’ mobile devices. The navigation system recognizes the driver’s preferences based on previous journeys, allowing it to generate suitable route suggestions. The Audi connect portfolio ideally supplements navigation guidance with traffic information online, the point-of-interest search and information on parking spaces and filling stations appearing directly in the navigation map.
The Audi Q3 arrives in Singapore exclusively with a 150hp 1.4-litre TFSI engine paired to a six-speed S tronic transmission. The Audi Q3 is priced at $168,800 including COE and VES, and will be available at the upcoming Cars@Expo, a local automotive event happening from 5-6 October 2019, organised by Singapore Press Holdings', ST Classifieds and sgCarMart.
Following the successful debut of the eighth-generation Audi A6, a new variant has been added the brand’s mid-size executive sedan offering - the 2.0 TFSI with 245hp. Alongside this derivative, the Audi A6 range in Singapore will also feature the extended Audi connect suite of functionalities. The new engine variant complements the 3.0 TFSI quattro model to offer consumers in Singapore more choices. Both engines feature an efficient mild-hybrid system.
The 2.0 TFSI features an innovative 12V mild-hybrid system that reduces consumption while improving comfort. A belt alternator starter (BAS) works together with a compact lithium-ion battery. The A6 can coast between 55 and 160km/h and the start-stop kicks in right from 22km/h. The system instantly and smoothly restarts the combustion engine. During deceleration, the BAS recovers up to 12 kW of energy. The energy stored in the battery is then used to power the various ancillaries, reducing demands of the internal combustion engine.
Like the A8 and A7 Sportback models, the A6 is the expressive ambassador of the new Audi design language. With taut surfaces, sharp edges and striking lines, the business sedan unmistakably conveys its character: sporty elegance, high tech and sophistication.
The exterior stands out with its balanced proportions – long hood, long wheelbase and short overhangs. The A6 is 4,939 millimeters long, i.e. 7 millimeters longer than its predecessor. The width has been increased by 12 millimeters to 1,886 millimeters while the height at 1,457 millimeters is now 2 millimeters more than on the outgoing model. The wide, low-slung Singleframe grille, the flat headlights and the powerfully contoured air inlets exude sportiness.
In the side view, three striking lines reduce the car’s visual height. The powerfully taut contours, which are drawn over the wheels, are testimony to Audi’s quattro genes. The taut roof line, which tapers into flat C-pillars, characterizes the silhouette. The short trunk lid ends in a curved separating edge for optimized aerodynamics. A striking chrome strip accentuates the three-dimensional sculpture of the rear and connects the rear lights.
The A6 features a full range of navigation, infotainment and Audi connect offerings that make it a smart business-class sedan. With each profile, up to seven drivers can individually store around 400 preferred settings. The natural-language voice control responds to operating commands and questions on the basis of data stored onboard; also with detailed knowledge from the cloud in conjunction with the MMI navigation plus which is standard for Singapore. With its extensive connectivity lineup, the new Audi A6 is always online. The data transfer module uses the new LTE Advanced standard. When it comes to navigation, both systems offer many innovations, including a self-learning function based on the driven routes.
As a full-size model, Audi connect on the Audi A6 goes beyond what’s possible on the Q3. Car-to-X services helps to locate the vehicle should it be stolen. It’s also possible to remotely sound the horn and lights. In a scenario where the vehicle may be used by another driver, the Geofencing feature will alert the owner if the vehicle has crossed limits of the defined zone, driven at an unacceptable time, driven too quickly or used improperly during valet parking.
With the myAudi app, it’s possible to remotely receive the status of the vehicle in terms of fuel and oil level, or whether the window and boot are left ajar. In case of an accident, the emergency eCall will activate automatically. For quick and targeted help, the rescue-relevant data, such as the accident location and accident severity, are transmitted to the Audi emergency call centre. The app also features the Audi Service Request (ASR), which will remind the owner of upcoming service appointments.
The above version of Audi connect is now being introduced across the larger model segments, from the A6 to the A8 and Q8.
The Audi A6 2.0 TFSI will be available at the upcoming Cars@Expo and will be priced at $242,500 including COE and VES.
