Give me a brief history lesson of the MINI Clubman
In 1969, the first Mini Clubman marked a departure from the notion that functionality and aesthetics couldn't coexist, as designer Roy Haynes eloquently put it. This stylish car, featuring distinctive split rear doors, made a significant impact in the automotive market from 1969 to 1981. It was known for its long wheelbase and extended shooting-brake body, making it a standout station wagon of its time.
Is the modern Clubman any different?
In 2007, the MINI Clubman reinterpreted the classic shooting-brake concept with a single rear access door on the right side. In 2015, the third-gen expanded to a length of 4.25 metres, offering increased space and comfort due to the longer wheelbase and the addition of two full-sized rear side doors.
What is a MINI Cooper S Final Edition?
The "Final Edition," with only 1,969 units available globally (5 allocated for Singapore), pays homage to the year of the original Mini Clubman's creation. This limited edition combines brand tradition with exclusive design elements and unique characteristics.
Now for the specs…
It’s powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and mated to a 7-speed automatic, and churns out 178hp and 280Nm of torque. Century sprints are dispatched in 7.2 seconds. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 14.9km/l.
Is it visually different from a regular Cooper S Clubman?
For sure. This special edition MINI is available in Nanuq White, Enigmatic Black and Melting Silver. It features details in Shimmer Copper, paying tribute to its design history. The radiator grille crossbar, MINI Cooper S Blade, side scuttles and 18-inch light-alloy wheels in the Final Edition Spoke 2-tone design all incorporate this shimmering copper colour. The "Final Edition" lettering in the lower area of the side doors indicates its special edition status, as does the "1 of 1969" badge on the side of the C-pillar.
It looks special inside too
The interior of the MINI Clubman Final Edition exudes exclusivity. There’s "Final Edition" lettering on the door sill trims and the lower spoke of the Nappa sports leather steering wheel.. The “MINI Yours” leather sports seats feature adjustable thigh support and an embedded edition badge, finished in Dark Maroon and complemented by anthracite-coloured Piquet fabric inserts and blue contrasting stitching.
