Paris to Beijing in an E-Class

As you read this, a convoy of 36 Mercedes-Benz E-Class’ are about half way between Paris, France, and Beijing, China, in an epic re-creation of the Beijing-Paris roadtrip made by Italian Scipione Borghese in 1907. The convoy consists of 33 E320 CDIs, some with 4-MATIC all-wheel drive, and three cars equipped with BLUETEC, the advanced new diesel engine that Mercedes-Benz claims to be the cleanest diesel in the world. Three hundred and fifty drivers will take part in the drive, consisting of journalists, VIPs and persons that managed to successfully get a place from a total of 50,000 on-line applicants.
