Peugeot gives local coupe-cabriolet fans something to smile about by introducing their new 308 CC here on Friday evening. Giving the freedom to drive in either the coupe or cabriolet configuration, the 308 CC gets a rigid metal roof that folds into the boot at the touch of a button.
The pioneer of "folding roof cars" concept since the 1930s, it was at the Geneva Motor Show in 1998 that this innovative motoring concept was launched in the form of the 20-Coeur. This proprietary concept soon evolved into the Peugeot 206 CC and 307 CC. The heirs to these successful first generation vehicles have already taken to the roads in the form of the 207 CC, and now, the 308 CC.
The spacious boot has a volume of 465-litres in its coupe configuration. In the cabriolet configuration, the retractable roof system preserves the boot capacity with a volume of 266-litres.
The 308 CC is powered by a 140bhp 1.6-litre twin-scroll turbo-charged engine, and mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission, produces 140bhp and 240Nm of torque. Peugeot promises exceptional performance, motoring pleasure and reduced C02 emission. Of course, better fuel consumption as well.
The 308 CC also gets wider tracks, lowered ride height and a set of high-performance suspension specially developed for it - all this in the name of good road-holding.
The 308 CC is now available at local Peugeot dealer AutoFrance, and retails for $127,900 (with COE).
