SG: Comfort to retrofit cameras onboard cabs

From the 16th of December, ComfortDelGro will spend three months installing cameras onboard all of its 16,600 taxis after getting approval from the LTA last year. Comfort will become the first cab operator in Singapore to have cameras fleetwide. The Chinese-made cameras J002B will cost $388 each, and are equipped with a 140-degree focus lens and a 2.7-inch LCD screen. They can also shoot in low-light conditions. The camera will only record incidents outside the cab. The installation will set the company back $6.4 million. The closest competitor to ComfortDelgro, TransCab, is still trialling various cameras in 100 cabs for reliability and durability. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
