SG: London Cabs plagued by mechanical issues

SMRT’s newest fleet of London Cabs have experience a wide array of mechanical failures and breakdowns that is causing inconvenience to the wheelchair-bound that rely on these taxis to get around. The new London Cabs were manufactured in China by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. The inferior quality of the cabs mean that despite their short stint in operation, the fleet has encountered numerous issues with the cabs that range from faulty air conditioning and dashboard lights, to windscreen wipers that stall. The problems have gotten so bad, that SMRT has had to fly in an engineer from the car maker to assist their mechanics to solve the issues.

For companies wanting to aquire a fleet of brand new London Cabs, their only option is to purchase them from the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, as The London Taxi Company who made the original cab went bankrupt in 2012. Geely Holding Group then picked up the pieces and started manufacturing updated versions of the taxis starting from February.
