SG: More problems on the EWL

SG: More problems on the EWL

Our aged train network began to show signs of distress back in 2011, where completely out of the blue, trains and tracks begun to fall apart and break down. 3 years on, the problems have not been completely rectified, evidenced by the 3 breakdowns on the EWL this Monday. The latest incident forced passengers to get off a stranded train at Bugis Station, before it was hauled out of service. This not only lengthened travel times for commuters onboard the broken train, the slow down also affected passengers from trains behind the faulty one. 2 other incidents that occured earlier that day were less severe, with slight faults on a train travelling between Pioneer to Queenstown, and another between Bedok and Outram Park stations. Delays of up to 15 minutes were expected, with SMRT rectifying the issue by about 9.00am Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
