VW launches long awaited Golf GT (Photo Heavy)
Volkswagen Group Singapore has finally unveiled the Golf GT, with it's groundbreaking TSI engine that is both Turbocharged AND Supercharged.

The launch was kicked off by a detailed explanation of how the TSI engine works by the father of the engine itself, Dr. Hermann Middendorf (Dr. Olaf Duebel on the left, Dr. Middendorf on the right)
Used in the Golf GT, the 1.4 litre TSI develops nearly 170hp and (get this) a maximum torque of 240nm at JUST 1750rpm, with 180nm of it being available at near idling speeds.
The Golf GT can power itself to 220km/h, while the 100km/h sprint happens in 7.9 seconds.
The Golf GT Retails for a little over $102,000

In case you didn't know, the TSI won the "Best New Engine of 2006", one of the most sought after automotive accolades.
According to Dr. Middendorf, the TSI engine has been engineered and tested to yield sufficient engine cooling capacities, having being put through its paces in the sweltering heat of South Africa.
This car might even appeal to those of you who love swapping in a bigger turbo, although VW advices against it!
Judging from a short spin round the area in the Golf GT, the car indeed proves to be promising, and it nearly reaches out to the performance standards of the Golf GTi, albeit having less power at higher revs.
Keep your eyes peeled for our full road test on the 15th of May.
