What we like:
pros
It's a BMW
pros
taut body control
pros
spacious cabin
pros
smooth gearbox
pros
should be economical to run
What we dislike:
cons
Engine a tad gutless
cons
lacks road presence due to its compact size
cons
firm ride
cons
hefty steering even at parking speeds

Even though, the sDrive18i is a low spec model, it is equipped with standard kit like 17-inch wheels, Park Distance Control, cruise control, Xenon headlamps, factory fitted stereo with an Aux input, electrically adjustable front seats, a multi-function steering wheel, a Panorama glass roof and so on.

The X1 will win many fans among premium SUV buyers despite its average performance. Doubters will say that it lacks the high set, commanding driving position and the sheer road presence of a premium SUV but consider it as a practical and spacious Golf-sized premium hatchback with a slightly raised ride height and a somewhat rugged character and the X1 will certainly start to make much more sense.
