Ciroen Grand C4 Picasso 1.6 THP Review: Art on wheels

You're looking for an MPV and don't want to drive a common Wish or Stream. "So what else is there in store for me?", you say. Ahh...enter Citroen's C4 Grand Picasso. Add a 1.6-litre turbocharged lump into the picture, and things just get more interesting.

What we like:
pros
Turbocharged engine gives all the adequate pulling power
pros
smooth automatic transmission
pros
cabin is really spacious
pros
doesn't look as boring as other MPVs on the roads.
What we dislike:
cons
4-speed 'box is in fact outdated
cons
too many controls on the steering wheel
cons
some interior plastic needs improvement.

So should you buy the C4 Grand Picasso? That will be a yes as it does most things right and very little wrong. It is packed to the gills with electric everything, and quite a few airbags and other safety features. Yes, the interior needs a little getting used to and you lose the distinctive looks of the five-seater version, but you gain slightly more space and versatility.

The fact that it has one of the best engines on the market, and that it is smaller than the class standard 1.8- and 2.0-litre units found in rivals also means there is less road tax to pay.

Definitely one of the few cases where you can have your cake and eat it too...
