The sedan quest
If you're in the market for a brand new sedan, how about taking a look at our quick guide first? We give you our top two choices in each class...

With a stylish exterior mated to a well-built and extremely spacious cabin (check out the rear-seat space), the only thing lacking in this car is the badge pedigree. Nevertheless, it has gone on to win numerous awards in Europe. At $128,800, this large executive saloon even has an aptly-named "Parking Assistant" - a system which can parallel park the car on its own.

The continues to be a favourite of ours, despite its $190K price tag. Its prominent looks, coupled with its reputation for safety, is a winning combination. Not as expensive as its continental counterparts, it nevertheless still offers high levels of build quality, power and refinement. A facelifted model is due here by next month.
At $89,538, this subtly-styled sedan packs a turbocharged 230bhp punch beneath its bonnet. Equipped with all-wheel drive, we like the WRX because it has the potential to be a "sleeper" car. With the go-faster bits hidden beneath a sedate facade, other boyracers could be in for a rude shock...

Evo fans rejoice; our final pick for this category is the $134,988(5MT). Mitsubishi may claim a "modest" 280bhp output, but everyone knows the 4B11 engine lurking beneath the bonnet is good for way more. The Twin-Clutch transmission variant costs another $25K, but it does wonders in keeping the power relentlessly flowing. A myriad of electronic gizmos will keep the car firmly planted on the tarmac - surprisingly, it's a practical and comfortable, day-to-day performance sedan as well.
