What luck...

Too much bad luck - that was the main cause of Oliver and Mai's elimination from the race...

Oliver, what did you think of Mai’s idea when she first suggested you do this race?

I deliberated for some time when Mai first suggested that we join The Amazing Race Asia – whether should I do it, or should I not. But everything turned out pretty good, so thanks to her.

What did you learn about each other on this journey that you never knew before? Anything about Mai that shocked you, Oliver?

Mai is one of my best girl pals that I see a lot. And now I really got to know her!

You mentioned wanting to throw in the towel pretty early on. What was it that fazed you?

THE DAMNED BUS RIDE! I just saw so many things in the 24 hours that we were on the bus. The sights were amazing - I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s like in those manga cartoon scenes…unreal!

Least favorite moments?

Fighting and dealing with problems.

After being friends this long, and under the different kinds of situations the race has put you through, surely sparks have flown?

Yes! But if you're talking about love sparks, then forget about it…

You said the key challenge during the race was that you had never worked together as a team. Is that what broke you in the end?

No, it was bad luck, that’s all. We fought till the end, and let me say this again - I did not sleep in the end! I was awake till early in the morning in Taiwan.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do now that this is over?

(Laughs) It’s a secret!

Of the 10 teams, who did you strike the closest bonds with, and why? Do you see yourself remaining friends?

The Koreans, simply because they’re like my brothers.

What motivates you and drives you to keep going on in life?

The power to know that I’m alive, and the chance to do anything I want is limitless.
