The car carrier M/V Courage tipped over at the port of New Jersey causing damage to over 370 BMWs. The ship was carrying new 3-series (including M3s) and 1-series vehicles that were to be delivered to customers in New Jersey.

Around 70 of the damaged cars were reported to be total losses with others sustaining major damage. Extensively damaged cars will be written-off while those with minor damage will undergo repair at a receiving facility in Elizabeth, NJ, before being delivered to showrooms.
