BMW M3 Convertible is confirmed
There will be a third variant of the M3. The sexy new BMW M3 Convertible.
We earlier reported unconfirmed reports of BMW debuting a convertible version of their M3. Now BMW has issued an official press release confirming that our daydreaming is true.
The M3 convertible will also feature a new 7-speed Double Clutch Gearbox (M DCT) that is able to execute gear changes without any interruption to the power delivery. This new gearbox is similar in nature to Volkswagen's venerable DSG gearbox.
The BMW M3 Convertible will be powered by BMW M’s brand-new V8 displacing 4.0 litres and developing maximum output of 420 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 3,900 rpm.
The convertible will see 0 to 60mph in 5.1 seconds(M DCT) which is 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe. This is due to the extra weight of the retractable roof.
