A different night race

[I][/I]Nine teams of two – including consumers, media and senior executives – took to the aisles at Cold Storage Centrepoint in a race resembling Formula One – complete with race car super-carts, pit stops and chequered flags – and were challenged to collect $289 (symbolic of the Singapore Grand Prix race date) worth of items in two minutes. The race was kicked off by a team comprising Mr Henry Chu, General Manager, Retail Sales and Operations, Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd and Mr Choo Peng Chee, CEO, Cold Storage Supermarkets.

In the end, a husband and wife team comprising 36-year-old Kenneth Lee and 29-year-old Tan Lek Wan emerged champions, and walked away with a total of $1,000 worth of Shell and Cold Storage vouchers. All other participating teams in the supermarket night race each took home a consolation prize of $200 worth of Shell and Cold Storage vouchers. Items collected by all nine teams during the race, worth a total of $2,890 were donated to Care Community Services Society (CCSS).

The Shell-Cold Storage night race marked the start of an 11-week promotion where customers who spend $30 at Cold Storage 15th August and 31st October 2008 will receive a free $2 Shell fuel voucher. To qualify for this supermarket night race, contestants had to spend $50 at any Cold Storage outlet between 1 – 6 August 2008 and sign up for a chance to participate. Randomly selected participants were informed on 8 August 2008.

[I]From 15 August to 31 October 2008, consumers who spend $30 (in a single receipt) at any Cold Storage supermarket are entitled to a free $2 Shell fuel voucher, limited to 5 vouchers per transaction. The $2 Shell fuel voucher is applicable for use with a minimum $50 purchase of any Shell fuel, or can be split into $1 coupons for a minimum $25 fuel purchase. The Shell fuel vouchers are valid for 14 days from the date of issue. [/I]
