Alfa to show the Sensational new Spider
It is not often that a car that has been making the European Motorshow circuit finds it way to the Singapore Motorshow just a few month’s later, but its happening this year, at the Alfa Romeo stand. In March, the Alfa Spider made its world debut at the Geneva Motorshow, where it garnered the coveted “Cabrio of the Year 2006” award. In September, it wowed the public at the Paris Motorshow, and now it is here in Singapore. Sharing its mechanicals with the Alfa Brera coupé, the Spider is the latest in a long line of dramatic and beautiful roadsters that the Milanese company has been building for the last 40 years. While the Spider shares the same front end as the Brera, the rest of the car has been re-styled completely by Pininfarina, who also builds the car, almost by hand, at its factory outside Turin. As with the Brera, the Spider should be available either with a 2.2-litre JTS direct-injection engine, or a 3.2-litre V6. The final specifications of the cars destined for Singapore have yet to be determined. If the styling of the Brera is anything to go by, the Spider will be a stunner. It will probably look as impressive, if not more so, than the Ferraris, Maseratis and Lamborghinis at the show. Vote for it at oneshift.com’s motorshow special if you agree.
