Aston Martin's Rapide gets honors for 'Most Beautiful Car 2010' and 'Classic Car of The Future'

Aston Martin’s four-door sports car; the Rapide has achieved more honours for the British luxury marque after being voted as the ’Most Beautiful Car 2010‘ in the ’autonis Design Award 2010’ vote presented by the German car magazine auto motor und sport.

Since its first public appearance in 2009 the Rapide has conquered the hearts of sports car enthusiasts and design experts alike. “The car incorporates the perfect balance between form and function“, said Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Design Director, accepting the “autonis Design Award” in Stuttgart on Wednesday Night. “The Rapide not only offers the four most beautiful sports seats, it also gives you trademark Aston Martin sports car driving pleasure.

Winning in the category ’Luxury Class’, the Aston Martin Rapide received 53.0 per cent of the readers vote comfortably ahead of Mercedes E-Class T (27.1 per cent) and the Audi A8 (23.5 per cent).

More than 21,000 readers of auto motor und sport magazine participated in this year’s autonis vote choosing the ’Most Beautiful Cars 2010‘ from a selection of 88 new models in eight different categories.

In another development, The Aston Martin Rapide has registered a further triumph in a reader vote; this time in the inaugural ‘Classic Golden Steering Wheel’ awards hosted by German magazine, Auto Bild Klassik. In the first running of the awards, the Aston Martin Rapide has won the vote for the ’Classic Car of the Future’

”It is something very special to see that a car which has only recently been introduced to the market is declared a future classic so shortly afterwards. It shows the strong confidence and enthusiasm people have for our sports cars and it makes us proud“, said Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin Chief Executive, at the award ceremony taking place at “Autostadt” in Wolfsburg. “The fact, that both design experts and, as we see here today, fans of classic cars alike are making the Rapide their favourite car shows that is a major vote of support for Aston Martin.”

Winning in the category ’Limousines’, the Aston Martin Rapide received 5,838 votes ahead of the Audi A8 (4,083 votes) and BMW 5 series (2,317 votes). More than 23,000 readers of ‘participated in the vote.
