BMW sells two million F10 5 Series cars
Having sold over two million units, the current BMW 5 Series sets new benchmarks in the premium business segment. Since its introduction in 2010, the sixth generation 5 Series (F10) has been best in class for design, driving dynamics and efficiency. Leading the world’s bestseller lists in the segment for the last six years, the F10 has become the most successful BMW 5 Series generation to date. Sales figures have also overtaken the previous generation E60 by over 42%. From the very beginning of the first generation 5 Series in 1972, more than 7.5 million 5 Series cars have been sold. This series has been a huge part of BMW’s success story with more than 347,000 customers worldwide purchasing the car in sedan, touring or Gran Turismo guise in just last year alone. The series owes its popularity partly to the wide range of engines. A broad spectrum of powerful and efficient four, six and eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines are available for the BMW 5 Series. It ranges from the BMW 518d to the M5 Sedan with both rear-wheel drive and xDrive four-wheel drive variants. Internationally, the F10 has won a large number of distinctions and awards over the last six years. These include the reader’s poll “BEST CARS 2016” conducted by “auto motor und sport” and “Upper Midrange” for the sixth time in succession. The BMW 5 Series was also similarly successful in the readers’ poll “Auto Trophy” conducted by the “Auto Zeitung”. Numerous design prizes such as the “red dot award”, the “iF Gold Award”, the “Good Design Award” and the Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany are also amongst its accolades.
