Borneo Motors Launches New Vios

The new Toyota Vios is finally out! Priced from $49,288 to $57,288, it is an improvement over the original JDM Toyota Belta, with the added capacity of the 1NZ-FE 1.5 litre engine. The new, Thai-manufactured Vios produces 107hp at 6,000rpm. Twisting force is now 141Nm at 4,200rpm.

Drivetrain layouts yield a 4 and 5-speed affair. The auto transaxle uses the super ECT for smoother shifts, coupled with a lockup torque converter, complete with a J-type transmission gate.

The suspension has been newly developed. It is of a compact L-arm type with Macpherson struts up front and a torsion beam for the rear.

Safety is probably it's biggest improvement, with the Vios getting two front SRS airbags and four-wheel disc brakes ("G" model only), ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution and an Active Safety Brake Assist that helps create safer emergency stops.

The Vios' wheelbase measures in at 2550mm, slightly longer than the previous version, and it does work. Rear legroom is impressive for a vehicle of it's class. Turning radius is an impressive 4.9m.
