In a complete twist of fate, the team and driver that almost didn't make it to the 2009 Formula 1 grid after Honda pulled the plug on its F1 programme a year ago took the 2009 Constructors' and Drivers' crown respectively at the penultimate round of the championship on Sunday.

Button's victory came after he finished ahead of his team mate and closest title challenger Rubens Barrichello in the race. He is the second Brit in a row to be crowned world champion after Lewis Hamilton took the spoils a year back.

Button won his first grand prix back in 2006 in Hungary after which he had several lean years in the uncompetitive Honda. He started his F1 career with the BMW.Williams F1 team after which he drove for Benetton, Renault,BAR and Honda before the later morphed into Brawn.
