BYD Launches Seven-Seat SEALION 8 DM-i in Singapore

BYD has expanded its local SUV line-up with the launch of the new seven-seat BYD SEALION 8 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid SUV aimed at families seeking greater practicality, efficiency and comfort.

Positioned as the brand’s flagship family SUV, the SEALION 8 DM-i combines three-row seating with BYD’s DM-i hybrid technology. It features a 2,950 mm wheelbase and a flexible cabin layout capable of carrying up to seven occupants. Cargo capacity ranges from 270-litres with all seats in place to 1,960-litres when the rear seats are folded.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and BYD’s Blade Battery. The plug-in hybrid system produces a combined 205 kW and 315 Nm of torque.

Inside, the SEALION 8 DM-i is equipped with a panoramic glass roof, three-zone climate control, ventilated and heated front seats, and ceiling-mounted air vents for second- and third-row passengers. The second-row seats also feature boss-button functionality for added passenger comfort.

Technology highlights include a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice control and over-the-air software updates.

Safety equipment includes a 360-degree camera, Blind Spot Detection, Driver Fatigue and Distraction Monitoring, Door Opening Warning, and multiple airbags. Advanced driver assistance systems comprise Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Braking.

The BYD SEALION 8 DM-i is now available for viewing and test drives at BYD showrooms across Singapore. Price is S$238,888 with COE.
