The 1-litre Challenge was part of the Shell Eco-Marathon that took place in Germany last May. In this challenge, seven competitors from around the world had to drive as far as they could on an obstacle-filled test track on a single litre of petrol.

Prior to this contest, competitors were trained by John and Helen Taylor, the couple known as the "gurus of fuel efficiency". In 2006, they managed to drive around the world on a Guinness World Record setting 24 tanks of fuel.

Among the tips given to the contestants were:

- drive smoothly
- shift to a higher gear as soon as possible
- get rid of excess weight
- keep your car's windows wound up at all times
- service your car regularly
- switch off the engine when stopped for more than 10 seconds

When the 1 litre of fuel ran out, Eunice had covered a distance of 20.8 kilometers, second only to Malaysia's Fahrin Ahmad, who managed to travel 21.3 kilometers before his single litre of petrol ran out.
