Ferrari Challenge APAC 2015 The Championship returns to Shanghai
Shanghai, 13 July 2015 – The Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific returns at the Shanghai circuit, which hosted the third round of the 2015 championship during the Ferrari Racing Days, for the fifth round of the season. Once again a dazzling show of power and speed was put forth on the track that also hosts the Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix. The weekend was to be very exciting for all 21 drivers but especially for Singapore driver Gregory Teo, who put forth a strong showing against championship leader Chinese, Xu Wei on home soil.
Immensely challenging wet weather brought about a spectacular show on 11th July, with Race 1 of fifth round of Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific. Dominating Trofeo Pirelli class, Australian Steve Wyatt scored his way to the chequered flag, leading the pack throughput from his pole position and setting the fastest lap time of 2:26.489. The Pirelli AM class was where Singaporean driver Greg Teo faced Chinese Xu Wei in a tight fight, narrowly missing the mark and crossing the finish line in second position. Clear bright skies on 12th July, replaced the all-wet weather from day before in preparation for the final race of the fifth round of the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific. The change in weather proved pivotal in as Indonesian Renaldi Hutosait took the chequered flag in a tight win over Steve Wyatt in the Trofeo Pirelli class. In the Pirelli AM class, Greg Teo showed strong Singapore spirit, winning the race and dominating his opponent from the day before. Finally, in the Coppa Shell classification, Xin Yanbin showed solidarity and extended his home wins in all races.
After Round 5, still at the top spot in the Trofeo Pirelli class is Indonesian Renaldi Hutasoit, at the front of the pack of the Pirelli AM classification is Chinese Xu Wei with fellow countryman Jin Xin still leading in the Coppa Shell class.
The next round of the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific, sixth and last one in Asia of this 2015 season, will take place at the Malaysian Sepang International Circuit after summer break on August 28th to 30th.
