First US Phantom Drophead Coupe Auctioned for US $2 million
First US Phantom Drophead Coupe Auctioned for US $2 million The first Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe has been bought for the princely sum of US $2 million dollars at a charity auction held during the annual Naples Winter Wine festival in Florida. Of that amount, more than US $1.6 million will be donated to the Naples Children and Education Foundation, which aids programmes to improve the physical, emotional and educational lives of under-privileged children.

The car, which was bought by a resident of Naples, is believed to be the single highest price ever paid for any lot in the event’s seven-year history, and also the most expensive new car ever sold in the USA.
The Drophead Coupe is a two-door, four-seat convertible and is hand-made at Rolls-Royce’s headquarters in Goodwood, England. It features the latest in lightweight aluminium technology, elegant design and top-notch hand-crafted materials. An extensive order list already exists, with all of the 2007 cars allocated.
Sales and Marketing Director, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Graeme Grieve said, “This was a unique opportunity for someone to secure the first US car ahead of the current waiting list for the Drophead Coupé, and make a very generous donation to an important charity in the process. Everybody at Rolls-Royce is delighted with the result.”
