Ford’s “Bold Moves” initiative

It’s not often that a big car company acknowledges that it needs to change, much less Ford, one of the largest and oldest carmakers in the world, but its happen. Ford has embarked on a massive internet campaign to inform the public that it is in the process of changing, and has set up the “Bold Moves” website to do so.

With the first ‘episode’ of the titled “Change or Die”, Ford’s “Bold Moves” initiative is pulling no punches in confronting the issues that it needs to address to get ship shape and competitive. There are 25 episodes so far, each one being a documentary-like video of an aspect that Ford is addressing – be it ‘right-sizing’ its production facilities or developing cars that run on alternative fuels.

The issue seem to be largely US-based, not really touching on Ford’s European operations (where the Focus and Mondeo we get are produced), but the openness about addressing Ford’s problems is refreshing and very eye-opening.

The website even encourages feedback from the public with “Contact us” and “Ford Responds” pages. Check “Bold Moves” our yourself at: http://www.fordboldmoves.com/episodelisting.aspx
