Indycar: Justin Wilson dies due to injuries sustained in crash

Indycar driver Justin Wilson has succumbed to injuries sustained in Sunday’s Pocono IndyCar 500 race. The Briton was hit by debris from Sage Karam’s accident, where Karam made a mistake as a result of the intense pressure he was under from the then-2nd placed driver, before spinning and hitting the banking at very high speed. The incident, which took place on lap 179 of 200, saw Wilson suffer severe head trauma, necessitating a medivac to a local hospital. As if we needed any more proof of the closeness of the motorsport community, Tony Steward kindly lent the Wilson family his personal plane to reunite the family at a much faster rate as compared to commercial travels. Most remember his ability to drive a race car, and his incredible unwavering kindness, character and humility. He is survived by his wife, Julia, and two daughters.
